and a puppet pulled by the strings of words
I wispered to Silence
“Why are you so quiet ?
It’s so loud out there
But where is your voice ?”
She giggles, then chuckles
In a calm tone she replies
“What you want is on the outside
But what you seek for is inside”
Puzzled, confused I went away
Then came one day when the noise was no more
All there stood was Silence
And for the first time in ages
I heard her voice, singing me a lullaby
For I hadn’t slept in ages and could sleep no more
Used to the noise, my drug was no more
Addicted, afflicted, my sore eyes could dream no more
And then it was in sleep I heard my soul
“You lived for her, you laughed with her
You cried with her, you cried for her
You wanted her to be with you
But what you seeked for was true love, for you
And no one can love you more than me
No one can know you more than me
And no one will be one with you, more than me”
I hugged Silence as she made me see
What noise was hiding from me
What I wanted was outside
But what I seeked for was inside
My true self, my true love
My untarnished soul
